Meet Your Myofunctional Therapist

Angie Bimat is a Registered Dental Hygienist, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and orofacial myofunctional therapist. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Arizona University, and has been treating patients in Los Angeles, CA for over 20 years. During her career as an oral health care provider she began to discover there was an abundance of orofacial myofunctional disorders in her patient population and realized the importance of intervention at an early age in order to correct the habits that lead to these disorders. In 2013 Angie attended The Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy and trained under Joy Moeller. The training through the AOMT renewed a passion for her within the field of oral health care, and she went on to obtain her certification as a Buteyko Breathing Instructor, (CertBBM), through the Buteyko Clinic International with world renowned breathing practitioner Patrick McKeweon. She has also trained with Timothy King in the NeuroMyoFascial release technique known as FNFT for orofacial pain. In 2021 she completed UCSD's lactation education to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.

In 2019 Angie began working collaboratively with Dr. Ted Belfor who created the Homeoblock and who has been featured in James Nestor’s book "Breath: The Science of a Lost Art". Through this interprofessional collaboration, she has aided in the successful treatment and education of numerous adult patients with upper airway resistance syndrome (UARS).

Working in healthcare for the past 20 years, Angie has learned the need for a collaborative “patient-centered” approach to treatment. She understands the value of connecting with her patients on a personal level in order to achieve the healthiest outcome possible. She lives by the motto “people don’t care what you know, until they know that you care.”
